Hale Ola

aloha :)

I've arrived! It's 9:15 local time... (6 hours behind boston time) and I just returned to my room from my first breakfast here! I don;t even know where to start describing what it's like here. Amazing? beautiful? definitely exiciting. I was blown away the minute i got off the plane in Kona... AN OUTDOORS AIRPORT! so cool. So far it kind of feels like the "on-campus" college experience i never had for sure. I'm sharing a room with 2 korean girls MJ and Sydney who are both in the 20's as well. The mission builders(volunteers) have their own housing area called "Hale Ola"- it means house of light in hawaiian- which is about a mile from University of the Nations-Kona (The YWAM Base where i'll be working everyday). The campus there is beautiful.... i haven't gotten a chance to look around much.... i went there for breakfast this morning, but that's about it. Tonight i'm figuring out what i'l be doing for work and what-not..

The mission builders are hitting the beach some people today, and some tomorrow, so I think i'll go tomorrow after church so I can explore the little downtown area and others places around here. So far everyone's been very kind, and i am very EXCITED (finaly!) to be here.

P.S: I met 2 or 3 people who have relatives or have been to the boston area ALL FROM THE NORHSHORE! YES. so STRANGE. one girl asked me... have you heard of Gordon college?? i just laughed....

i don't have great pictures yet but I will post better ones maybe after the weekend :)

cool! you have a real address. I told my residents that my friend went to Hawaii for 4 months and all they asked me was if you "really love wildlife and flowers, fish etc. Is that why she's going for so long?" Ha, ha! We are in a down pour tonight because of Tropical Storm Hanna here. I went to Starbucks tonight soaking wet and got my coffee from Priscilla!
